About RISE

Mission Statement
RISE, Inc. (RISE) is a 501 (c ) 3 community based non-profit organization that provides out-of-school time services, youth prevention services and HIV/AIDS outreach prevention education in under served communities in Wards 6, 7 and 8 in Washington DC. RISE is committed to helping our community heal itself from the ravages of poverty by empowering individuals with the necessary tools to change their lives!

History
RISE was founded and incorporated in March 1990 by seven African American men who were students or alumni of Howard University who wanted to help change the hopelessness and oppressive violence in Washington, DC. In 1995 RISE was reorganized to address the needs of under served communities.

Vision Statement
RISE is an innovative community based non-profit organization providing assistance and services to persons in need of help to change and improve their lives. RISE is a non-denominational organization but we are believers in a living GOD, descendants of proud African culture and ancestors. RISE is motivated to serve mankind because, we believe that no one can be free until all are free from drugs, alcohol, illiteracy, poverty, HIV/AIDS, ignorance, low self-esteem, spiritual emptiness, oppressive violence and hopelessness.

Goal
RISE's goal is to provide professional, competent, ethical, cost effective, empowering, culturally relevant, holistic human service to at-risk youth, families and communities in Wards 7 and 8 in Washington, DC.
